On behalf of our Board of Directors, we offer you the 2017 Community Vision report to kick off an important community conversation about taking responsibility for Chico's future. Major businesses tell us we're at a tipping point.
"Chico >> The City Plaza restrooms are no longer open 24 hours now, but when they were, downtown businesses noticed a reduction in urine and feces on their stoops. In January, the city opened the restrooms 24/7 to address issues with public defecation and urination downtown.
"Chico >> When a business hits Year 35, it’s done something right, but sometimes pinning down what that is can be difficult. In the case of two Chico businesses that were celebrated earlier this month, it’s a combination of creativity, listening to customers, and being alert all the time.
"Tuesday, May 16, 2017 Chico >> A possible way for downtown Chico to improve safety and clean up the sidewalks received the blessing of the Chico City Council on Tuesday, but not unanimously. And downtown property owners still must vote on the formation of a property based improvement district.
"Tuesday, May 2, 2017 Chico >> Chico is hurting when it comes to roadway and tree maintenance needs, according to city staff. Tuesday, the City Council heard from the public works and community development departments about their budgetary needs. The final budget meeting will be June 6, when the council will have to make some tough calls about funding.
"Thursday, March 30, 2017 - Chico >> Assemblyman James Gallagher emphasized the importance of independent investigation into the Oroville Dam spillway crisis, changing operations at the dam and investing in state infrastructure maintenance on Thursday.
"Tuesday, March 21, 2017 Chico >> Amendments to city landuse regulations and its 2030 General Plan were approved Tuesday by the City Council, with the goal of making residential and commercial development easier.

April 4, 2017 (CHICO, CA) Tickets are now on sale for the Chico Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Bash honoring the 35th Anniversaries of Bird in Hand and Made in Chico Thursday, June 1, 2017. This event will be held at Patrick Ranch on the Midway in Durham from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with attendance expected to reach 400+.

December 13, 2016 CHICO, CA The Chico Chamber of Commerce will co-host the official 2017 Business Summit & State of the City Address with the City of Chico on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the CARD Community Center located at 545 Vallombrosa Avenue in Chico.
"In celebration of the Pleasant Valley Vikings Division 4-A Football State Championship win, the City of Chico is permitting the closure of several streets in Downtown Chico on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, for a Viking Victory Parade. The street closures will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a parade start time of 3:30 p.m.

September 16, 2016 (CHICO, CA) For the second time in 2016, Chico State officially signs on to partner with the City of Chico on major community priorities. In January of 2016, Chico State and the City of Chico, and both police departments, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to increase public safety in the mile radius around campus.
