Viking Victory Parade

"December 19, 2016 - CITY PERMITS STREET CLOSURES - Viking Victory Parade. In celebration of the Pleasant Valley Vikings Division 4-A Football State Championship win, the City of Chico is permitting the closure of several streets in Downtown Chico on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, for a Viking Victory Parade. The street closures will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a parade start time of 3:30 p.m. 

The procession will commence on Third Street on the east side of Salem Street next to the parking structure, and head east before turning right onto Main Street. The parade will then head south before turning right onto Fifth Street where it will head west for one block, turning right onto Broadway with a final right turn onto Fourth Street where the parade will end for a celebratory gathering in City Plaza.

The ceremony will begin at approximately 4:00 p.m. and will include presentations by Chico Unified School District and City officials, performances by the Viking Marching Band and Choir, and a special visit from Santa. The community is welcome to come and join the celebration and are encouraged to wear blue and white in support of the football team and cheering squad.

Both Main Street and Broadway will be closed from the south side of Second Street to the north side of Sixth Street. Salem Street will be closed from the south side of 2nd Street to the south side of Fourth Street. Third and Fourth Streets will be closed from the east side of Normal Ave. to the west side of Wall Street. In addition, Fifth Street will be closed from the east side of Salem Street to the west side of Wall Street.

A map of the parade route and street closures is attached to this Press Release. Parking will be available in City Parking lots, and along the streets outside of the parade route.
