June 29, 2018   CHICO, CA The Chico Chamber of Commerce will host a 2018 Chico City Council Candidate Forum.  This event is free and open to the public and is scheduled for Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Chico Area Recreation District (CARD) Community Center located at 545 Vallombrosa Avenue in Chico. RSVPs are required as seating is limited.

The Candidate Forum provides an important opportunity to hear each candidate’s position on the City’s top priorities. There will be a question and answer period, moderated by leaders within the Chamber Board of Directors, as well as questions from the audience.

“It’s a critical time in our community and this election is pivotal in determining how we handle our priorities going forward. The Chamber is focused on crime, roads, and the City’s ability to maintain and improve our quality of life in the face of a projected financial deficit in the coming years. We know from the business community that deferring maintenance is not acceptable anymore – status quo isn’t enough – so there are decisions on the horizon that will determine the City’s short-term and long-term success. This Forum will allow us to ask those questions and more. We encourage the general business community to attend and submit questions at the event. Let’s walk away from the Forum with a better understanding of how our candidates are going to address business and community priorities in Chico,” says Katie Simmons, President & CEO of the Chico Chamber of Commerce.

Media attending the event should be set up and prepared to obtain any statements from the City Council candidates and Katie Simmons prior to the 8:30 a.m. start time. Statements will not be given during the Forum.

There is no cost to attend but RSVPs are required. Reserve your seat today by registering online at, calling 530.891.5556, or emailing All members of our Chico community are encouraged to attend.

The Chico Chamber Young Professionals Organization will host a City Council Candidate Mixer on October 17th, at 5:30 p.m., at Red Tavern, 1250 Esplanade in Chico.  Save the date for this informative evening where community members will have the chance to engage with City Council candidates in an informal setting.
