2016 City Council Candidate Forum September 7, 2016
September 6, 2016 CHICO, CA The Chico Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Chico Business Association will co-host the 2016 Chico City Council Candidate Forum. This annual event is free and open to the public and is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. in the Chico Area Recreation District (CARD) Center located at 545 Vallombrosa Avenue in Chico. RSVPs are required as seating is limited.
This is an important opportunity to hear each of the candidate’s positions on the city’s top priorities. There will be a question and answer period moderated by leaders within the Chamber and DCBA, as well as questions from the audience.
“Election season is a special time in any community, requiring citizens to think about and talk about what really matters, and to be a part of deciding the future by voting. The Chico Chamber is pleased to host a City Council Candidate Forum on September 7th to ensure that the questions our members and business community have are answered. We don’t endorse candidates at the Chico Chamber; instead, we make sure our businesses’ priorities are known and addressed. As our Community Vision outlines, we are advocates for a safe, healthy, prosperous community, and we are looking for civic leaders to help us move Chico forward” says Katie Simmons, President & CEO of the Chico Chamber of Commerce.
Media attending the event should know to be set up and prepared to obtain any statements from the city council candidates, Katie Simmons and/or Melanie Bassett before the 7:30 a.m. start time. Statements will not be given after the forum.
