Why Is Chamber Membership Good For My Business?

A national study by The Schapiro Group, an Atlanta-based market research firm, reveals a number of significant findings about how consumers and business owners perceive the local chamber of commerce and its business members. For example:

  • When consumers know that a business is a member of the local chamber, they are 44% more likely to think favorably about it.
  • Consumers who are told that a business is a chamber member are 51% more likely to be highly aware of it and 57% more likely to think positively of its local reputation.
  • Consumers are 63% more likely to buy goods and services in the future from a company that they believe is a member of the local chamber of commerce. The study also has good news for businesses that sell to other businesses.
  • When business decision-makers believe that a business is a chamber member, they are 37% more likely to think favorably of the business, 51% more likely to be highly aware of it, 58% more likely to think positively of its local reputation, and 59% more likely to buy goods and services from it. Supporting the previous findings, the study also reveals a positive perception for the local chamber itself:
  • Regarding the chamber's impact on the local economy, 82% of respondents believe that the local chamber of commerce helps create jobs and promotes local economic development. This study was sponsored by IBM, Administaff, Jim Blasingame and AskJim.biz in cooperation with American Chamber of Commerce Executives. The study was conducted by The Schapiro Group and coordinated by Market Street Services.

How Much is an Annual Investment in the Chamber?

Annual investments in Chamber membership vary from $250 to $600, depending on your business type and level of benefits you are seeking. Partnership investments vary from $1,000 to $10,000.  Flexible payment plans are available. Contact Kelsey Torres or Heather Ugie at 530.891.5556 to learn more!

Is it Mandatory to Attend Meetings?

Not at all. Participation in Chamber meetings and events is completely optional. We're at work behind the scenes advocating on behalf of business whether or not you attend a single event. Many members do enjoy the ability to network, however. How much you do is up to you!

We notice that businesses join for 1 of 2 reasons: to participate or to support.  Participants build their businesses by getting involved in our networking events and activities, becoming volunteers, and finding leadership roles within the Chamber.  Supporters build our community by investing in our advocacy and economic development work, sending letters when needed or giving us a call when an issue arises. If you’re a participant, thank you for showing up and being seen!  You are the face of the Chamber. If you’re a supporter, thank you for investing in the Chamber and in the indelible impact on the community only we can make together. How do I Schedule a Ribbon Cutting or other event for my business?

The Chamber offers several types of celebrations to help you promote your business:
