The 26-room Victorian house was built with the most modern plumbing, gas lighting and water systems available at the time. Bidwell Mansion is now a California State Historic Park. | | This unique bar and eatery at Second and Salem streets was built in 1883 by Franklin Lusk, John Bidwell’s attorney who was also a prominent local banker and president of the Chico Normal School Board of Trustees in 1888-89. Built in 1883, the Stansbury House stands prominently on the corner on W. 5th Street and Salem Street. Home to Chico physician Oscar Stansbury and his wife Libbie, the home now acts as a time capsule giving visitors a glimpse at what life was like in the 19th century.
